Simulation Inference of Plasma Parameters From Langmuir Probe Measurements

A novel approach is presented to infer plasma parameters from Langmuir probe measurements. Three-dimensional kinetic simulations capable of accounting for multiple physical processes and realistic measurement conditions, are used construct synthetic data sets, or solution libraries, consisting computed collected currents, with corresponding environment parameters. Applying the Swarm standard analysis procedure density temperatures, comparing them values in simulations, provides an assessment uncertainties resulting these procedures. significant source discrepancy found come neglect minority light ions, effect sheath nearby satellite. An empirical relation constructed, which reproduces within 5%, given voltages known effective masses, flow speeds, satellite floating potential. This as a useful constraint between several variables; not all being measured estimated accurately situ.
